Pew Research Center’s estimate published in 2025 placed the world’s Christian population around 2.3 billion in 2020. Muslims grew fastest among the major religious groups analyzed between 2010 and 2020. This does not mean the largest number of conversions: younger age structure and fertility were important. A 2020 estimate is not a census of today.
