Apple introduced the iPod on October 23, 2001, with the slogan “1,000 songs in your pocket.” The first iPod had a 5 GB hard drive and could hold up to 1,000 CD-quality songs; it went on sale on November 10. On April 9, 2007, Apple announced that it had sold its hundred-millionth iPod. That figure counted devices, not 100 million dollars in revenue.
