Lion versus polar bear: there is no certain answer

Who would win in an imagined fight between a lion and a polar bear? There is no scientific answer: the animals live in different natural habitats and do not meet in the wild. Zoo reference sources put a typical adult male lion at roughly 150–260 kilograms and a male polar bear at about 300–635 kilograms. That makes the bear much larger in a typical comparison, but body mass alone cannot reliably predict the outcome of a hypothetical fight.
