Чи просив Ньютон відчинити вікно в парламенті?

A popular anecdote says Isaac Newton’s only words in the House of Commons were a request to close a window because of a draft. Historians caution that the story, repeated in many biographies, may be apocryphal: no reliable contemporary record of that exact remark has been identified.

Newton represented the University of Cambridge in Parliament in 1689–1690 and 1701–1702. During his first term he moved for a bill concerning the university’s rights and privileges; biographical sources say he seems not to have made a speech. The window story is therefore best described as a famous but uncertain anecdote, not a documented fact.
