Eight states of the Arctic Circle
The Arctic Circle crosses territory belonging to eight states: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, the United States (Alaska), Canada, Denmark (through Greenland), and Iceland (at Grímsey Island). Denmark’s inclusion refers to the Kingdom of Denmark and its self-governing Greenland; mainland Denmark lies south of the Arctic Circle.
The Arctic Circle crosses Grímsey, an Icelandic island.
