Albania’s age profile

Albania was once described as one of Europe’s youngest countries, but the figures in the original claim no longer match the 2023 census. The census put the population’s average age at 42.5, and 373,929 of 2,402,113 residents were under 15—about 15.6%, not more than a quarter. This is the mean, not the median age; the census also recorded substantial population ageing since 2011.
