White Sea and Persian Gulf temperatures

In winter, the White Sea’s surface waters cool close to their freezing point: mean January temperature in its northern part is about −1.9 °C, while the bays are warmer. The Persian Gulf is among the warmest marine regions in summer; an extreme sea-surface temperature of 37.6 °C has been recorded in shallow Kuwait Bay. Thus, −2 °C and 35.6 °C are not constant temperatures for the entire seas, but approximate winter conditions and a regional summer extreme, respectively.
