Is the tongue the strongest muscle?

Calling the tongue the body’s “strongest muscle” is misleading unless strength is defined. The tongue consists of several coordinated muscles that change its shape and position. For maximum bite force, the jaw’s chewing muscles—especially the masseter—are important; there is no universal ranking of a single “strongest” muscle.

“Strongest” depends on how strength is measured.
