Steve Buscemi returned to Ground Zero after 9/11

Before his acting career, Steve Buscemi served for four years as an FDNY firefighter with Engine 55 in Manhattan. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, he returned to the site the following morning with his old gear and helped with search, rescue, and recovery work. Buscemi himself has described working in a bucket brigade.
