Animal regeneration

Some animals regenerate lost body parts, but the ability depends on the species. Sea stars can regrow arms, lizards can regrow tails, and salamanders such as axolotls can regenerate limbs and certain other tissues and organs. This is not universal to all sea stars or reptiles, and a regenerated part is not necessarily identical in every detail to the original. [1–4]

Regeneration varies by species, from a sea star’s arm to a salamander’s limb.
