Overweight prevalence in Nauru
Nauru has an exceptionally high prevalence of overweight among adults, but the claim that 95% of the entire population is overweight “to some degree” is outdated and imprecise. The WHO STEPS fact sheet (2026) estimates 89.8% of adults aged 18–69 have BMI ≥25; 72.0% have BMI ≥30 (obesity). This is an adult survey estimate, not a measurement of every resident, and the categories need clear definitions.
