In November 2021 NASA’s Inspector General estimated approximately $93 billion in cumulative Artemis spending over fiscal years 2012–2025. This was a forecast at that time, combining incurred and expected expenses, rather than a final bill compiled after 2025. It cannot automatically be called the price of a permanent lunar base or directly compared with the ISS’s lifetime cost. Such a comparison needs matching program boundaries, price years and cost categories.
