Elevations of Europe and Asia
The claim that only 1.5% of Europe lies above 2,000 m is often repeated alongside elevation-band figures, but I could not establish a reliable original source or calculation method for it. Treat that precise share as unverified. The comparison is better supported: one published estimate gives mean land elevations of about 300 m for Europe and 960 m for Asia; another geomorphology reference puts Asia’s mean at 915 m. These values depend on continental boundaries and methods, but Central Asia’s high plateaus clearly raise the continental mean [1–3].
Europe’s relief is lower overall, but precise elevation shares require a stated method.
