Earth's Frozen Water
About 1.7% of all Earth’s water is stored in ice sheets, glaciers, and permanent snow. This is roughly 68.7% of the world’s freshwater. It is not all “practically unusable”: ice and glaciers are important to the water cycle and can provide water, but much of this reservoir is geographically remote and not directly accessible for current use. Ice stores about 69% of freshwater, but only 1.7% of all Earth’s water.
