While working for a raw-material recovery firm during the German occupation, Stanisław Lem occasionally passed ammunition and other materials he had found to underground contacts. In a recollection quoted in a biographical interview, Lem stressed that the contacts were incidental, he did not know which organization they belonged to, and he did not consider himself an organized member of it.
