300 тисяч людей на мосту Золоті Ворота
On May 24, 1987, the 50th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge’s opening, Bridgewalk ’87 brought an estimated 300,000 pedestrians onto the roadway. The crowd’s weight temporarily flattened the bridge’s usual convex profile; a U.S. Federal Highway Administration fact sheet gives the midspan deflection as about 7–10 feet (2.1–3.0 m), making 213 cm a plausible rounding near the lower end of the range. About half a million more people were turned away over load and safety concerns, but this was a response to overcrowding, not a pre-set cap of 300,000 participants. The bridge withstood the load, and its profile returned after the crowd dispersed.
