The hardest tissue in the human body
Tooth enamel is the hardest tissue in the human body. It consists mostly of minerals and covers the tooth crown, protecting the softer dentin. Hardness does not mean invulnerability: enamel can crack, wear, and be damaged by acids, and once formed it does not regenerate like bone. [1–3]
Enamel is hard, but it can be damaged.
