Tom Hanks and typewriters

Tom Hanks is a well-known collector and user of typewriters. In interviews, he has said he types shopping lists, memos, and reminders on a typewriter; a Guardian profile reported that he carries one nearly everywhere and uses one almost every day. This supports a personal habit, but not the claim that he always takes a typewriter to film sets or uses it there to record screenplay ideas.
