Buoyancy in the Dead Sea
The Dead Sea’s water is exceptionally salty and dense, so a person can float easily, although ordinary swimming can be awkward. The lake has no natural outlet: water flows in, while evaporation leaves dissolved salts and minerals behind; some later precipitate or are extracted.
The Dead Sea’s dense brine supports the body at the surface.
