Haiti’s forest cover
Haiti has a very small share of forest cover, but its trees have not disappeared completely. The World Bank/FAO indicator reports forests covered about 12.4% of Haiti’s land area in 2022. This is among the world’s lowest shares; the exact ranking depends on year and the definition of “forest.” This internationally comparable estimate is not the same as often repeated claims about near-total loss of primary forest.
