The Elephant and the Mirror

In a mirror study, one Asian elephant touched a mark on her head with her trunk, a mark visible to her only in the reflection. Two other elephants in the same study did not pass the strict mark test. This behavior is evidence of mirror self-recognition in one individual, but the test does not measure the full intelligence or self-awareness of elephants.
