How much does an iceberg weigh?
“An average iceberg weighs 20 million tonnes” is not a universal value: the result depends on which sizes are counted, the region, and the method. NOAA sets a minimum threshold for an iceberg—at least 500 m² in area and more than 5 m above sea level; smaller fragments are classified separately. Thus, 20 million tonnes may describe a large individual iceberg, but it is not a verified global average.
Mass depends on size; no universal 20-million-tonne average is established
