Unsafe Water and Children's Health

For 2019, WHO estimated that unsafe water, sanitation, and hygiene together were associated with about 395,000 deaths among children under five—an average of roughly 45 per hour, rather than 200. This burden covers several health outcomes, including diarrhoea and acute respiratory infections, not deaths from drinking water alone. Estimates depend on the period and risk definition.
