Чи потрібне рису затоплення?

The claim combines three different points. First, rice does not have to be grown in permanently flooded fields: rainfed lowland, upland, and aerobic systems exist, although familiar lowland rice is often cultivated with flooding. Second, ponded water can suppress weeds and create conditions in which many rice varieties grow well; this is one reason for flooding, but not the only one—water supply and agronomic management matter too. Third, rice is indeed a staple food for more than half the world’s population. Rice needs water, but not necessarily the same large amount of irrigation water in every system; flooded paddies are common practice, not a biological requirement for every rice-growing method.
