Panama and Central America

After separating from Colombia in 1903, Panama was increasingly included in Central America: the 1911 Britannica already called it a Central American republic. In the common seven-continent model, Central America is the southern region of North America, though continent terminology differs in other models. Independence did not physically move Panama.

Panama lies on the isthmus between Central and South America.
