In Sikh tradition, Guru Granth Sahib is scripture revered as the living and eternal Guru. The tenth Guru, Gobind Singh, invested the scripture with authority as successor. This expresses religious spiritual authority rather than claiming that paper is biologically alive or simply a collection of bodily incarnations of earlier teachers.
