Sweden’s great lakes

Sweden’s four largest lakes are Vänern, Vättern, Mälaren, and Hjälmaren. Their areas are approximately 5,450, 1,886, 1,073, and 464 km², respectively. Swedish institutions themselves refer to them collectively as the “great lakes of Sweden”; calling them the North American Great Lakes “in miniature” is an informal analogy, not a standard scientific term.
