Human and Chimpanzee Hair
Human skin is not devoid of hair follicles: much of the body is covered with fine, short, inconspicuous vellus hair. A comparative study of five body regions found broadly similar follicle densities in humans and chimpanzees across most measured sites, while density and hair type varied by body region. So “the same density per square inch” overgeneralizes the findings.
Fine vellus hair covers much of the human body.
