Speed of Nasal Exhalation

Exhaled airflow speed at the nostrils has no single fixed value: it changes during the breathing cycle and depends on effort, anatomy, and measurement location. Nasal-flow studies measure different speeds at different sites in the nasal cavity during quiet breathing, while peak values can be much higher. 3 km/h (0.83 m/s) is best treated as a rough estimate under particular conditions, not a universal normal value. Exhalation speed depends on breathing phase and measurement location.
