Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulchre is revered as the site of Jesus’ crucifixion, burial and resurrection according to Christian tradition. The present complex contains several chapels and a structure over the venerated tomb. Historical and archaeological study differs from resurrection belief: a shrine’s existence does not scientifically prove a theological event.
