Coral and Guam roads
The claim has a historical basis, but it should not be read as a description of every road today. A 1972 Guam plan described coral-base asphalt roads that became slippery in rain. A later Port of Guam assessment also describes urban infrastructure, including roads, over crushed-coral fill or limestone substrate. Coral material has therefore been used in road construction or base layers on the island; road surfaces vary by place and period.
