Life expectancy in Nigeria

The claim that average life expectancy in Nigeria is about 18 years is an error or a conflation of indicators. WHO estimated life expectancy at birth in Nigeria at about 53 years in 2021; the World Bank gives about 54 years for 2023. A figure near 18 years may refer to additional life expectancy after reaching age 60, not life expectancy from birth.
