Intelligence and Alcohol Disorder Risk
Long-term studies of Swedish male conscripts have found an inverse association between intelligence-test scores in youth and later alcohol-related problems. This is a statistical association in particular cohorts, not proof that intelligence itself prevents a disorder. The sources reviewed do not support the broader claims that men with higher IQ generally live healthier lives or are less likely to be unfaithful. [1–2]
Alcohol-risk findings do not establish broader claims about lifestyle or infidelity.
