A little wonder, every day

Seven sacraments are not every Christian tradition’s scheme

Catholic and Orthodox traditions commonly list seven sacraments: baptism, confirmation or chrismation, Eucharist, penance, marriage, orders and anointing. This is not a universal count for all Christians. The Church of England catechism, for example, specifically distinguishes two sacraments ordained by Christ: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Names and theological categories must be tied to their traditions.
