Hadrosaurs did not simply have many teeth; they had dental “batteries” for grinding plant food. Several rows of teeth were stacked in their jaws, and worn teeth were continually replaced. The figure 960 may appear as an estimate for a particular count or reconstruction, but it should not be presented as a fixed number for every hadrosaur: counts depend on species, jaw, and whether only working teeth or replacement teeth are included.
