Europe’s natural zones
Europe has no equatorial forests or tropical savannas, and true hot-desert climate covers only a very small area; dry and semi-desert landscapes occur, notably in southeastern Spain. Natural-zone labels depend on the classification: tundra and Arctic desert occur in the north, while FAO places Europe’s Mediterranean region in the subtropical domain. The word “almost” therefore needs this qualification.
