Uyuni’s mirror

Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni on the Altiplano is the world’s largest continuous salt flat. After rain, a thin layer of still water can spread over its exceptionally flat salt crust and reflect the sky, creating the impression of an immense mirror. The effect is seasonal and depends on rainfall and surface conditions; it does not appear reliably after every shower.

After rain, a thin film of water on Uyuni reflects the sky.
