Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus is a bacterial predator propelled by a polar flagellum. A 2006 study measured strain HD100 swimming at up to 160 micrometers per second, while another strain was reported around 35 micrometers per second. Body lengths per second depend on the particular cell’s length and conditions. These observations do not give every cell the same relative speed. They do not establish a world record among all organisms.
