A Chicken's 13-Second Flight

The “13 seconds” figure is widely repeated as the longest recorded chicken flight, but its origin and status as an official record could not be verified. It appears in popular fact sheets and educational materials, but I could not find a primary measurement record or a corresponding Guinness World Records listing. It is safer to present it as a popular claim rather than a verified world record.

Chickens can make short flights, especially lighter breeds, but “flight” can mean different things, from fluttering down from a perch to a short sustained crossing. Duration alone is not enough to verify a record.
