Red Sea coral reefs
The Red Sea is warm, saline, and semi-enclosed: strong evaporation and limited freshwater inflow keep salinity above the open-ocean average. Despite these conditions, it has extensive coral reefs with rich marine fauna and notable endemism. “One of the brightest underwater worlds” is subjective, so the more precise description is the diversity of its reef ecosystems.
Red Sea coral reefs support rich and, in places, endemic marine life.
