In a da Vinci system, a surgeon works at a console and controls instruments beside the patient through computer-mediated motion. Robotic manipulators do not mean the system independently decides where or what to operate on: the human remains the operator. Separation between the surgeon’s hands and the instruments does not by itself establish routine surgery between cities. Intuitive states that remote telesurgery is not a focus of its product design. Suitability and outcomes depend on the procedure, team training and conditions of use.
