A little wonder, every day

Bog triathlon: the record date

AI-generated cover of a fictional bog-snorkelling competitor in a Welsh-style peat trench; not Daniel Bent or his record attempt. Prompt: “Photorealistic vertical 4:5 editorial cover of an adult athlete in a wetsuit and snorkel swimming face-down through a narrow dark peat bog trench during a rural Welsh bog-snorkelling race, spectators blurred along the grassy bank, overcast daylight, energetic sports documentary style. Fictional competitor, not Daniel Bent or a specific record attempt. No text, signs, logos or numbers.” Generated 20 October 2026.

The list incorrectly dates Daniel Bent’s time of 2 hr 23 min 24 sec to 1994: the history of the event in Llanwrtyd Wells dates the first bog triathlon to 2005. The Guinness World Records page gives 11 July 2010 for that time. Another Guinness article, however, says Bent recorded an even faster 2 hr 21 min 5 sec in 2009; the sports publication *Triathlete* reports that time as well. So 1994 is wrong in the original item, while the sources disagree about which time was the record.
