The "Avatar" mountain got a new name

The sandstone pillar Nantian Yizhu (Southern Sky Column) in Zhangjiajie’s Yuanjiajie scenic area was renamed “Avatar Hallelujah Mountain” in 2010. Its landscape is linked to the visual inspiration for the floating mountains in Avatar, though this does not mean the film was shot on the mountain itself.
