Robert Heinlein’s science-fiction novel *The Door into Summer* appeared more than once on *Locus* magazine’s lists of the best science-fiction novels of all time: it ranked 29th in 1987 and 44th in the 1998 poll. A Japanese film adaptation, relocating the story to Japan, was released in 2021. These lists reflect poll participants’ votes, not an objective ranking of literary merit.
