Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are distant cousins

In 2009, the New England Historic Genealogical Society reported that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are tenth cousins once removed. Their shared ancestor was identified as William Knowlton, who lived in seventeenth-century Massachusetts. This is a genealogical finding based on family records; “cousins” here means a very distant degree of relationship.
