The "Ural Giant," a Huge Platinum Nugget
The “Ural Giant” is the largest known surviving platinum nugget, weighing 7,860.5 g. It was found in 1904 at the Isovskoye deposit near Yekaterinburg, not in the nineteenth century. “Surviving” matters: historical accounts describe larger nuggets found earlier, but they are no longer preserved.
