Is Guinness the most stolen book?

The story that Guinness World Records is the book most often stolen from libraries has circulated for years as a library anecdote. Guinness itself once called it a popular target in school libraries, but offered no statistics or counting method. There is no reliable comprehensive ranking of library book thefts, so this is not a verified world record.
