Bob Ross showed that colour is not the only tool

In Shades of Grey, Bob Ross paints a wintry mountain landscape in grey and white tones. At the beginning, he describes a man he met during a painting demonstration at a shopping mall who believed he could not paint because of his colour vision. Ross chose a limited palette to show that this need not prevent someone from making art.
Lighter and darker areas, outlines and a sense of space become the image’s foundation. This is not a lesson in diagnosing visual conditions: a story about one visitor does not mean everyone with a colour-vision difference sees only grey. The episode demonstrates an accessible creative approach rather than a medical rule.
