Скільки м’язів у голові гусениці? | How many muscles are in a caterpillar’s head?

Does a caterpillar’s head really contain exactly 248 muscles? The figure is repeated in popular materials, but I could not find a reliable primary source establishing it as a universal count. The number of muscles depends on the species and on how anatomists define and count individual muscle bundles. It is safer to say that a caterpillar’s head has many specialized muscles for moving its jaws and mouthparts, while 248 should not be presented as a verified fact.
