The first short in Volodymyr Dakhno’s Cossacks series, How the Cossacks Cooked Kulish, came out in 1967. Dakhno relayed goalkeeper Viktor Bannikov’s account that Moscow teams watched How the Cossacks Played Football before matches and then won. The supposed resemblance to Euro 2012 was noticed later and depends on how viewers interpret the cartoon’s characters.
